Lauren was smart enough to book a weekend away in Victoria British Columbia, using a nice little groupon that let us take the Victoria Clipper up to the Great North. Just so happened that Lindsay and Pat had the same idea. And so it was that the four of us took a quick weekend trip up to Canada.
Contrary to the cabbie's belief, the Clipper itself is not a hydrofoil, but a catamaran. Its also very fast and in about 3 hours time we were up in Canada, land of the $1 coffee. At least while you were on the clipper.
They say that Victoria is like a little slice of England, but I had a hard time seeing it. Sure, there is the capitol building, but that's like saying Olympia resembles the Roman Empire. Still, the town has a very cool vibe about it and if you walk far enough, you find all sorts of cool little places to explore.

More shopping!
One of those places was Swanson's, a hotel with its own little brewery. We sampled all 12 varieties - pretty darn good, I say.
That far up north, it wasn't dark until 10pm, which suited us just fine. We enjoyed a cocktail at the Empress...$22 for a sidecar is ridiculous, empress or not...
Lauren is a trooper - the trip to Canada marked her sixth country in as many days, as the return flight from Zambia isn't necessarily direct.

Still, I'm sure the lure of a real breakfast was enough to overcome any nagging jetlag!
why yes, thank you!

Hey Jacob,
You look like you had a great time! Great smiles all around.
